Child Protection Officer

Save the Children is a global humanitarian and development organization working in over 100 countries to improve children’s lives through healthcare, education, child protection, and emergency response programs.

The Child Protection Officer will focus on quality and timely processing of Best Interest Assessments (BIA) and Best Interest Determination (BID) for children in refugee camp settings while supporting durable child protection solutions. The role involves case management leadership, coordination with UNHCR, UNICEF, CPWG partners, and strengthening protection systems for vulnerable children.

1. Manage child protection case management processes.
2. Support BIA & BID development and implementation.
3. Mentor and support case workers and community supervisors.
4. Participate in CPWG meetings and BID panels.
5. Ensure accurate case documentation and CPIMS updates.
6. Conduct home visits and child interviews.
7. Coordinate alternative care and foster placement follow-up.
8. Prepare child protection reports and situation updates.
9. Support safeguarding and child protection compliance activities.

1. Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, or related field.
2. At least 4 years relevant experience in child protection.
3. Experience in refugee protection and BID/BIA processes.
4. Strong leadership and case management skills.
5. Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
6. Strong report writing and stakeholder coordination skills.
