Job Description

The role offers an opportunity to contribute to product development and support efficient production processes within the Maa Bead-Work initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Cut, shape, and prepare leather materials for production.
  2. Carry out both hand stitching and machine stitching processes.
  3. Assemble bags, belts, wallets, and other leather accessories.
  4. Integrate traditional Maasai beadwork into leather products.
  5. Conduct finishing processes including burnishing, polishing, and trimming.
  6. Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
  7. Support product development through prototyping and design improvements.
  8. Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe working environment.

Requirements

  1. Certificate or Diploma in Leatherwork, Leather Technology, Fashion Design, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years’ practical experience in leather product manufacturing and assembly.
  3. Strong skills in leather cutting, shaping, hand stitching, machine stitching, and finishing.
  4. Experience producing bags, belts, wallets, and other leather accessories.
  5. Ability to work with different types of leather and production materials.
  6. Knowledge of leather production tools and equipment.
  7. Experience integrating beadwork into leather products will be an added advantage.
  8. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  9. Excellent craftsmanship and finishing skills.
  10. Strong attention to detail and quality control.

  12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  13. Good organizational and time-management skills.
