Job Description

Chemolex is seeking a practical and technically skilled Project Technician to support the implementation of innovative clean energy projects across Kenya. The successful candidate will assist in the design, installation, testing and continuous improvement of Community Cooker and waste-to-clean-heat energy systems aimed at promoting sustainable environmental solutions. The role involves working closely with engineering teams, installation technicians and community stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and according to technical specifications. Candidates should be passionate about renewable energy, environmental sustainability and applying engineering solutions to solve real-world challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the design, installation and commissioning of waste-to-clean-heat energy systems in different project locations.
  2. Assist engineers in testing, troubleshooting and improving system performance to maximize operational efficiency.
  3. Participate in the implementation and maintenance of emission control systems to ensure environmental compliance.
  4. Supervise installation teams and ensure technical work is completed according to engineering standards.
  5. Support health, safety and environmental compliance by monitoring adherence to safety procedures during project implementation.
  6. Develop user manuals and technical guides for community operators to ensure proper use and maintenance of installed systems.
  7. Monitor project performance, collect operational data and prepare technical reports for project management.
  8. Assist with business case development, feasibility studies and technical assessments for future projects.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, Environmental Engineering or another related engineering discipline.
  2. Minimum three (3) years of practical experience working with thermal systems, heat exchange systems, combustion technologies, emission control systems, waste-to-energy plants, clean energy technologies or related industrial processes.
  3. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  4. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  5. Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  6. Willingness to travel extensively for field deployment.
