In-Process Quality Controller

Brown's Food Co. is one of East Africa's leading artisan food manufacturers, producing premium cheese, yoghurt, ice cream and baked goods. The company focuses on maintaining high food quality and safety standards while expanding its market presence.

This is a hands-on production floor role within the Quality Assurance team. The successful candidate will work closely with production teams to monitor manufacturing processes, ensure compliance with food safety standards, and identify quality issues in real time. The role requires strong observation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly to quality concerns while maintaining accurate production records and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

1. Monitor and verify critical quality and food safety parameters during production.
2. Ensure production records and make sheets are completed accurately and in real time.
3. Conduct weight checks and monitor product giveaway.
4. Verify batch traceability and labeling accuracy.
5. Perform quality inspections in the cheese caves.
6. Raise and manage non-conformances and product holds.
7. Conduct GMP and hygiene compliance checks.
8. Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause investigations.
9. Escalate food safety and quality risks promptly and professionally.

1. Has a Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
2. Has between 6 months and 2 years' experience in a food manufacturing quality role.
3. Understands basic HACCP, GMP, and food safety principles.
4. Has strong attention to detail and excellent observation skills.
5. Is comfortable working on the production floor and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
6. Can communicate findings confidently, objectively, and professionally.
7. Demonstrates integrity and never compromises on food safety standards.
8. Experience in dairy, cheese manufacturing, or FSSC/ISO-certified environments will be an added advantage.
