Utilities Technicians – Gas Plant Operations

Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM) is a member of the Safal Group, founded in 1962, and operates in the manufacturing sector.

Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM) is seeking to recruit three (3) Utilities Technicians – Gas Plant Operations for the Mariakani Plant. Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidates will operate and monitor gas generation and distribution systems to ensure a safe and reliable utility supply for production.

1. Safe operation of hydrogen and Nitrogen gas plants
2. Ensure steady supply of Nitrogen and Hydrogen gases to the MCL and annealing furnace
3. Regular monitoring of equipment health and reporting malfunctions to the production supervisor as well as maintenance supervisors
4. Recording of all process parameters in shift log sheets is provided.
5. Troubleshooting in case of process abnormalities and initiating preventive/corrective actions.
6. Report all cases of equipment malfunction to the metal coating line production engineer
7. Carry out safe LPG offloading and ensure a steady supply to the Metal Coating Line, Colour Coating Line, and ARP.
8. Working closely with the production team to ensure daily production and quality targets are met.
9. Sending Flash Report on matters pertaining to Gas Plants operations.
10. Preparation of daily LPG consumption reports.
11. Implement 6S in gas plants
12. Preparation and replenishing of potassium hydroxide solution for the hydrogen plant.
13. Participation in shutdown activities as and when required
14. Performing other duties as assigned by the management from time to time

1. Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline.
2. Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a process industry environment such as oil & gas, petrochemical plants, refineries or industrial gas operations
3. Ability to interpret P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams.
4. Knowledge of DCS/SCADA systems and process control operations.
5. Good communication skills in English and Swahili.
6. Experience in industrial gas plants
7. Experience in oil & gas operations
8. Experience in petrochemical or refinery environments
9. Experience in Air Separation Units (ASUs) and Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) systems
10. Experience in LPG storage and handling facilities
11. Experience in process plants utilising DCS/SCADA control systems
