System Support Analyst

Britam Holdings Plc is a diversified financial services group founded in 1965, offering a range of services in banking, financial services, and insurance. The company operates from Nairobi, Kenya.

The System Support Analyst is responsible for identifying business needs and creating technical solutions, including database design, workflow development, and user interface creation. This role also encompasses the comprehensive design, development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of business applications, along with providing essential second-line support to ensure smooth operations.

1. Configure and customize business applications to meet specific business requirements using various databases and software tools.
2. Assist in presenting system functionality to new users and departments, actively driving system adoption by business users.
3. Enhance and create necessary user and system documentation.
4. Collaborate directly with IT support personnel and teams to resolve issues identified and escalated during daily operations.
5. Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that business application systems can be effectively developed and implemented.
6. Design and develop front-end, middle-tier, and back-end database components for business applications.
7. Capture business application information needs and map them to the appropriate software and database components.
8. Conduct data modeling to analyze and specify data structures within an application system.
9. Develop database objects and structures for data storage, retrieval, and reporting according to specifications.
10. Implement and test database design and functionality, tuning for optimal performance.
11. Research and provide input on design approaches, performance improvements, and base functionality enhancements for various procedures and applications.
12. Generate ideas to improve the efficiency of software and application services offered to the business, and/or generate revenue for the business.

1. A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
2. 4–6 years of experience in applications development, including system customization, support, and report design.
3. 2 years of experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS), preferably MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL.
4. Certification in ITIL.
5. Knowledge of data analysis and analytics, mobile infrastructure, internet technologies, e-commerce, and payment technologies.
6. Experience in processing automation using robotics.
7. Previous experience in a financial or insurance institution is an added advantage.
8. Experience in data analytics and Power BI is an added advantage.
9. Membership to relevant IT bodies.
