About the Company

VSquared Kenya is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Planning & Design Engineer (Fiber) to join our growing telecommunications team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, surveying, and designing fiber optic networks for FTTx projects including FTTH, FTTB, and Permanent Fix deployments

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and feasibility assessments for fiber deployment projects

• Design and plan FTTH, FTTB, and Permanent Fix fiber routes in line with GPON standards

• Collect and validate field data including GPS coordinates, route measurements, utility mapping, and site photos

• Prepare detailed fiber network designs including aerial and underground routes, trench alignments, splice layouts, and duct utilization

• Perform route optimization based on terrain, infrastructure availability, and cost efficiency

• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and material estimations

• Upload and maintain designs on Lepton or related telecom planning platforms

• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, SLAs, and safety standards

• Work closely with project teams, engineers, and contractors during implementation

• Prepare daily, weekly, and project progress reports

• Identify project risks and recommend mitigation measures

• Maintain quality, safety, and environmental compliance standards

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, GIS/Geospatial Engineering, Land Surveying & Mapping, or related field

• Minimum 1–3 years’ experience in telecom planning and fiber network design

• Experience in FTTx deployments and transmission systems preferred

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS tools, Google Earth, and Lepton systems

• Good understanding of GPON and OSP network standards

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation

• Strong analytical and organizational skills

• Excellent communication and reporting skills

• Valid driving license and ability to conduct field surveys independently
