Job Description
As a pivotal member of our team, the Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all financial transactions and reporting for Freds Ranch & Resort. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic financial management of a dynamic hospitality business, ensuring robust financial controls and insightful reporting that supports informed decision-making.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records, preparing comprehensive financial statements, and ensuring adherence to Kenyan accounting standards and tax regulations. This position requires a proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to operational excellence within a vibrant resort environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements in Kenya.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance and provide recommendations for best practices.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax) and other statutory deductions.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely disbursement to staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (K) qualification is mandatory.
- Proven working experience as an Accountant, preferably within the hospitality sector, for at least 3-5 years.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including IFRS.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP) and MS Office Suite, especially advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and statutory deductions.
- Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail and accuracy.
