System Administrator

NCBA Bank Kenya Plc is a financial institution founded in 2019, operating in the Banking & Financial Services sector from Nairobi, Kenya.

The Systems Administrator role acts as a technical support for the following: Hyper-V; 3PAR Storage; Exchange/Office 365; Active Directory; Proxy Server; Mail Marshal; Web Marshal; SharePoint; Skype for Business; Unix systems and Virtualization. The Systems Administrator – will resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

1. Planning and Designing of the Servers, Storage, Windows, Microsoft Office 365 Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and Data Center requirements as per the business plan and technology.
2. Ensure that servers and Data Centres are properly monitored and administered.
3. Installation/configuration of Servers, Storage, Windows, Microsoft Office 365 Monitoring and Capacity Planning as per the IT Polices/ Standards.
4. Provide guidance to the users on its features and usage in order to ensure its proper use and improvement in performance.
5. Support, Maintenance. Patching & Administration of servers (both physical and virtual), including hardware, OS (Windows), 3PAR Storage and Microsoft products.
6. Maintain Active Directory such as creating accounts, troubleshooting authentication, configuring domain controllers, managing DNS and DHCP, and implementing group policies.
7. Assist in implementation of projects related to Servers, Storage, Windows, Backup & monitoring in accordance with Bank’s requirements.
8. Monitor capacity & performance of the group servers to ensure optimum efficiency.
9. Disaster readiness is maintained as agreed and ensures regular DR exercises are done.
10. Assist in the development of a Business Continuity Plan for the IT Infrastructure of the bank.
11. Effectiveness of integration of IT infrastructure blueprint with the bank’s business direction.
12. Contribute to effectiveness of system administration (policy, controls & infrastructure) with regard to protection against exposure to and impact of risks associated with data loss, corruption and/or unauthorized access.
13. Support other areas where necessary (On-prem, Hybrid and Cloud instances).

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
2. Professional qualifications in IT e.g. ITIL, MCSE, A+, MCITP, MCP, VCP, RHCSA and Other relevant professional qualifications in IT field would be added advantage.
3. Project Management certification and experience is preferred e.g. PRINCE2, PMP.
4. Cloud Administration – Azure, Oracle, Kubernetes, AWS certifications.
5. Minimum 4 years working experience in a busy IT environment with a hands-on role in implementing and supporting Exchange 3PAR Storage; Proxy Server; Mail Marshal; Web Marshal; SharePoint; Skype for Business; Virtualization.
6. Experienced in Windows Enterprise servers and UNIX systems.
7. Hyper-V/VMware or other virtualization platforms.
8. HP Server Platforms (rack mount and blades).
9. PowerShell scripting.
10. MS System Centre (SCCM, SCOM) Configuration.
11. Office 365 (Exchange Online, One Drive for Business, SharePoint Online) and Active Directory Services.
