Production Accountant

Quality Meat Packers (QMP) is a privately owned company founded in 1970, known for its commitment to quality and innovation in the meat industry. Starting with a butchery outlet in Nairobi, QMP has grown to operate Kenya's largest slaughterhouse and meat processing plant, providing halal meat products.

The Production Accountant at Quality Meat Packers will play a crucial role in the financial oversight of the company's production operations. This involves conducting standard costing, variance analysis, and CVP (Cost-Volume-Profit) and break-even analysis to assess profitability. The role also includes managing inventory valuation according to IAS 2, performing regular stock counts, and reconciling inventory records. The accountant will track yields, losses, and by-products using ERP systems like Matrix or Odoo. Furthermore, they will be responsible for preparing comprehensive management accounts and developing profitability dashboards to provide insights to management. The position also entails supervising assistant accountants and data clerks, ensuring accurate and timely financial data processing.

1. Perform standard costing, variance analysis, and CVP and break-even analysis.
2. Manage inventory valuation in line with IAS 2, including stock counts and reconciliations.
3. Monitor and track production yields, losses, and by-products within the ERP system.
4. Prepare detailed management accounts and create profitability dashboards.
5. Oversee and guide assistant accountants and data clerks.

1. Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA(K) certification is an advantage.
2. Possess at least one year of experience in a production or agro-processing environment.
3. Demonstrate exposure to ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
4. Have a strong understanding of IAS 2, IFRS, and cost accounting principles.
5. Exhibit strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and leadership qualities suitable for a team leader role.
