Job Description

This role ensures the effective implementation of Compensation, Benefits, and HR Analytics strategies, aligning them with the company’s goals and competitive market practices. The specialist will manage HR data, analyze trends, oversee payroll processes, optimize benefits administration, and enhance HR technology utilization (HRIS – SAP). The role also ensures compliance, streamlines HR operations, and drives data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Act as the HRIS (SAP SuccessFactors) functional lead, ensuring system optimization for HR processes.
  2. Lead system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new HRIS functionalities.
  3. Review data integrity/maintenance in the SAP/SuccessFactors system.
  4. Collaborate with IT to manage contracting and engagement processes with third-party HRIS system providers.
  5. Train staff on SAP usage.
  6. Collaborate with HRIS service providers, IT, HR Business Partners, Learning and Talent Development team, and other third-party providers to build technical competency and capability across the organization.
  7. Ensure continuous and correct configuration of SAP Success Factors aligned to the EPM Scorecard and 360 Degrees Feedback.
  8. Organize and coordinate payroll induction for new staff (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania &Rwanda).
  9. Regional collection, preparation, and processing of payroll material for Kenya and Rwanda.
  10. Prepare payroll reconciliation reports.
  11. Prepare payroll financial accounting journals and postings.
  12. Support the Compensation and Benefits team in managing the overall HR budget and reconciliation process.
  13. Manage benefits processes including entitlements, payments, and interface with payroll.
  14. Oversee administration of employee benefits, including medical insurance, pension schemes, wellness programs, and leave policies.
  15. Manage benefits enrollment processes, ensuring timely and accurate information for employees.
  16. Negotiate favorable terms for benefits packages and service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors.
  17. Ensure seamless integration of benefits data into HRIS for accurate tracking and reporting.
  18. File all statutory returns for the Group (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, COTU, BIFU, HELB, NITA).
  19. Ensure all staff log their leave in HRIS.
  20. Track departmental leave plans and advise Managers to ensure staff take leave for two continuous weeks.
  21. Ensure staff carry forward no more than 5 leave days to the following year, completed by March 31st.
  22. Conduct monthly leave reconciliations with departmental leave champions.
  23. Upload correct leave days’ entitlement for the year.
  24. Conduct internal surveys, compile reports, and track HR performance indicators.
  25. Design and maintain HR dashboards to track key metrics such as turnover, retention, and performance.
  26. Analyze workforce data to provide insights into employee engagement, productivity, and compensation trends.
  27. Provide HR leadership with data-driven recommendations on talent acquisition, retention, and workforce planning.
  28. Oversee staff loan applications, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  29. Validate loan eligibility criteria before approval.
  30. Ensure accurate and timely deductions of loan repayments via payroll.
  31. Liaise with Finance in reconciliation of HR-related expenses and accounts.
  32. Support HR Annual Audit.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. SAP HRIS certification or relevant experience managing SAP HR modules.
  3. CHRP certification (completed or ongoing) is an added advantage.
  4. Certification in Data Analytics (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, VBA) preferred.
  5. Minimum 6 years of experience in HR, with at least 3 years specializing in Compensation & Benefits and HR Analytics.
  6. Hands-on experience in HRIS (SAP), payroll processing, and benefits administration.
  7. Strong knowledge of HR regulations, compensation structures, and benefits schemes.
  8. Experience in reconciliations and staff loans processing.
  9. Proven track record of supporting the achievement of an organization’s people strategy.
  10. In-depth knowledge of the local banking industry, banking products, services, and regulations.
  11. Sound working knowledge of labor regulations and practices.
