Job Description

Responsible for Portfolio Administration, Valuation, Reporting and Performance Measurement of Unit Trust Funds, Wealth Management Funds, Retail Pension and Discretionary Clients under Britam Asset Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review and post portfolio income entries and support valuation-related activities.
  2. Perform daily valuation, pricing, amortization, revaluation, and impairment of securities (equities, fixed income, indices, and FX).
  3. Conduct validation checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of fund pricing processes.
  4. Monitor and ensure accuracy of portfolio administration activities and end-of-day valuation outputs.
  5. Perform daily cash and investment reconciliations between custodians and internal fund records.
  6. Investigate, resolve, and escalate reconciliation breaks in a timely manner.
  7. Conduct monthly asset holding reconciliations between custodians (banks) and fund managers.
  8. Monitor accuracy of cash positions, investment balances, and settlement activities.
  9. Oversee recording and settlement of traded securities, corporate actions, and disbursement transactions.
  10. Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all transaction processing activities.
  11. Monitor operational transaction flows to ensure adherence to internal controls and procedures.
  12. Prepare and submit regulatory reports to Capital Markets Authority (CMA), Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA), trustees, and other stakeholders within stipulated timelines.
  13. Produce statutory, client, and management reports accurately and on schedule.
  14. Support compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies governing operations.
  15. Review and disseminate client statements, contract notes, and transaction confirmations.
  16. Support resolution of client operational queries and correspondence in a timely manner.
  17. Maintain high service standards and adherence to turnaround timelines to enhance client experience.
  18. Measure fund performance against benchmarks and support performance reporting.
  19. Compute, accrue, and validate management fees, expenses, and fund-related charges.
  20. Prepare periodic portfolio holdings, movement, revenue, and performance reports.
  21. Provide operational support to BAM Uganda under the hub-and-spoke framework.
  22. Coordinate with custodians, trustees, finance, IT, and client service teams to ensure seamless operations.
  23. Support cross-functional initiatives impacting operations and service delivery.
  24. Participate in system enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT), and process improvement initiatives.
  25. Support operational efficiency, digitization, and automation efforts.
  26. Contribute to process redesign and continuous improvement of operational workflows.
  27. Support operational risk management through reconciliations, reporting accuracy, and transaction controls.
  28. Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  29. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time in support of business operations objectives.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
  2. 4–6 years’ relevant experience in asset management, and administration, or investment operations.
  3. Professional certification in accounting or finance (CPA (Part II or above), ACCA, CFA Level I or above preferred).
  4. Demonstrated experience in fund accounting and valuation processes.
  5. Reconciliation and transaction management.
  6. Regulatory and statutory reporting.
  7. Client servicing within financial services or asset management.
  8. Experience working within a regulated financial environment is essential.
  9. Exposure to regional operations or multi-entity environments is an added advantage.
