Data Scientist

Britam Holdings Plc is a diversified financial services group founded in 1965, offering banking, financial, and insurance services. It is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Data Scientist will be responsible for converting company data into practical insights through the creation of analytical models. This position supports data-driven decision-making and plays a key role in implementing the organization's data strategy, governance framework, and advanced analytics initiatives.

1. Analyze both structured and unstructured data to generate actionable business insights.
2. Develop predictive and prescriptive models to aid business decision-making processes.
3. Build and maintain machine learning models and analytical pipelines.
4. Support the implementation of the enterprise data framework, including data quality and governance standards.
5. Utilize data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric and data lakes for data processing and analysis.
6. Create dashboards and visualizations for various stakeholders.
7. Translate complex analytical outputs into clear and understandable business insights.
8. Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across different business and technology teams.
9. Identify and explore opportunities for applying AI/ML to enhance business performance.
10. Perform additional assigned duties as required.

1. Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Possess 1-2 years of experience in data analytics or data science.
3. Be proficient in programming languages like Python/R, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
4. Have experience with machine learning and statistical modeling techniques.
5. Be familiar with cloud data platforms, including Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
6. An understanding of data governance and regulatory requirements is considered an advantage.
