A chemical manufacturing company seeking an HR professional to manage various HR functions as an HR implant.

Job Description

This is an opportunity for an HR professional who can work independently, build strong relationships across departments, and provide practical HR solutions that support both employees and organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Shortlist candidates, conduct interviews, and coordinate with recruitment agencies.
  2. Maintain an up-to-date talent database.
  3. Identify and attract high-quality talent from the market.
  4. Manage employment documentation, including applications, biodata forms, offer letters, and contracts.
  5. Conduct reference checks and coordinate employee onboarding.
  6. Develop and maintain organisational structures and job descriptions.
  7. Ensure appropriate job placement and smooth integration of new employees.
  8. Coordinate payroll processing and statutory compliance, including PAYE, NSSF and applicable statutory deductions.
  9. Ensure timely and accurate employee payments.
  10. Support employee benefits administration and awareness.
  11. Manage leave records and ensure proper handover during employee absences.
  12. Develop employee training programmes and an annual training calendar.
  13. Identify training and development needs.
  14. Coordinate on-the-job training, health and safety training, and other learning initiatives.
  15. Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  16. Maintain compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies.
  17. Develop and maintain an employee handbook.
  18. Coordinate employee welfare initiatives, including medical matters, bereavement support, team-building activities, and CSR programmes.
  19. Coordinate required employee medical examinations before and after employment.
  20. Coordinate probationary and bi-annual performance assessments.
  21. Support the setting and monitoring of quarterly and annual objectives and KPIs.
  22. Coordinate Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for underperforming employees.
  23. Handle disciplinary and grievance matters fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with employment legislation and company policy.
  24. Coordinate employee separation, clearance, and exit processes.
  25. Conduct exit interviews and provide management with insights and recommendations arising from employee feedback.
  26. Advise management and department heads on employee relations matters.
  27. Provide appropriate guidance and counselling support to employees.
  28. Conduct quarterly employee satisfaction surveys and recommend areas for improvement.
  29. Coordinate workplace health and safety programmes.
  30. Chair and/or coordinate Health & Safety Committee meetings.
  31. Support compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007 (OSHA) and Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA).
  32. Promote a safe, compliant, and employee-conscious workplace.
  33. Prepare monthly HR reports covering workforce performance, recruitment, training, employee relations, leave, and other relevant HR metrics.
  34. Provide management with actionable HR insights and recommendations.

Requirements

  1. A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  2. Highly organised, discreet, and able to handle confidential information.
  3. Proactive and capable of working independently as an HR implant.
  4. Strong in employee relations and conflict resolution.
  5. Comfortable working with management, supervisors, and employees at different levels.
  6. Familiar with Kenyan employment legislation and statutory HR requirements.
  7. Analytical and able to prepare meaningful HR reports and workforce metrics.
  8. Comfortable working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  9. Committed to professionalism, integrity, fairness, and employee wellbeing.
