Data & Analytics Manager

CIC Insurance Group Plc is a leading insurance company in Kenya. Founded in 1968, it operates in the banking and financial services sector.

Reporting to the Head of Digital and Innovation, the Data and Analytics Manager is responsible for leading the CIC Group’s data strategy and ensuring high-quality data collection, management, and analysis. They oversee a team of data professionals, ensuring data quality and accessibility, and developing analytical solutions that directly inform strategic decision-making and drive CIC Group’s organizational value. Their core objective is to leverage data as a strategic asset to enable data-driven growth and operational excellence.

1. Develop and implement the organization’s data and analytics strategy aligned with business goals.
2. Establish data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
3. Translate business problems into data-driven insights and analytics solutions.
4. Promote self-service analytics capabilities for business teams.
5. Oversee the design and management of data platforms, databases, and data warehouses/lakes.
6. Ensure proper data integration from multiple internal and external sources.
7. Ensure scalability and performance of data infrastructure.
8. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies.
9. Implement controls to protect sensitive and confidential data.
10. Manage risks related to data usage, privacy, and analytics outputs.
11. Partner with business units to identify analytics needs and priorities.
12. Translate technical findings into clear insights for executives and business leaders.
13. Lead and mentor data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers.
14. Define team priorities, performance targets, and delivery standards.
15. Build analytics capability and best practices within the organization.
16. Manage vendor relationships where applicable.
17. Collaborate with business teams to operationalize analytics outcomes.

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
2. 7+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or data engineering.
3. Team leadership experience.
