Job Description

The Unit Manger will oversee a unit where he/she will majorly be responsible for recruiting and retaining sales agents so as to deliver the set insurance sales revenue targets. The role is on contractual basis and reports to the Branch/Sales Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Delivery of business plan targets including Revenue, Persistency and Business Mix
  2. Recruitment and retention of Agents
  3. Effective monitoring and evaluation of agents in their respective units
  4. Setting out relevant plans and daily activity work schedule for the unit
  5. Ensure agents have the necessary support systems to assist them deliver their budgets
  6. Implementing training programs to support skill development and competence.
  7. Opening new markets
  8. Advise the business on opportunities/threats that are presented by such activities.
  9. Enforcement of performance management processes as specified by the business
  10. To uphold the brand image and ensure compliance with all internal as well as external regulations

  10. Responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries.
  11. Execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality.
  12. Identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action.
  13. A successful track record of selling in the financial services sector, teaching or any other relevant profession
  14. Demonstrable insurance sales experience as an agent
  15. Knowledge of legislation governing insurance in Kenya
  16. Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite and packages
  17. A Degree/diploma in a business-related course
  18. Must have at least 3 years’ sales experience in the insurance or financial services sector
  19. 2 years’ experience as a Unit/Agency Manager in insurance or financial sector will be an added advantage
  20. Must have a COP Certificate
  21. Must have current IRA license.
