System and Infrastructure Officer

Royal Mabati Factory Limited is a manufacturing company founded in 2005, based in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Systems & Infrastructure Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s IT hardware, software, local area networks (LAN), and wide area networks (WAN) in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures reliable IT infrastructure to support production processes, minimize downtime, and enhance operational efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing setup.

1. Install, configure, and maintain hardware components such as servers, workstations, and networking equipment.
2. Manage and troubleshoot software systems, including operating systems and network protocols.
3. Oversee LAN and WAN configurations, ensuring secure and efficient data transmission across manufacturing facilities.
4. Monitor network performance, conduct regular maintenance, and implement upgrades to support manufacturing operations.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate IT infrastructure with manufacturing systems like ERP and automation tools.
6. Develop and enforce IT policies for hardware and network security, including backups and disaster recovery plans.
7. Provide technical support to end-users in resolving hardware, software, LAN, and WAN related issues.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, preferably in a manufacturing setup.
3. Strong knowledge of hardware (servers, routers, switches) and software systems.
4. Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs) and tools for LAN/WAN management.
5. Experience with manufacturing-specific systems, such as SCADA or IoT integration for production lines.
6. Certifications like CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a production environment.
8. Strong communication skills for collaborating with non-technical staff.
