IT & Systems Engineer (Network Automation)

The IT & Systems Engineer (Network Automation) will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation and software solutions. This role focuses on streamlining and optimizing the company’s systems and infrastructure by applying robust software engineering, system design, and architecture principles.

1. Translate user requirements into robust system architecture and software design specifications for automation and integration solutions.
2. Design, develop, and implement scalable software and automation solutions for configuration, provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting across enterprise systems, with a focus on network environments.
3. Architect and build monitoring and analytics capabilities into automation solutions to enhance system performance, scalability, proactive management, and fault detection.
4. Develop and maintain well-architected automation scripts, services, and workflows using tools like Python, Ansible, Terraform, and REST APIs.
5. Design and implement integrations between automation platforms and B/OSS systems to ensure seamless interoperability.
6. Research and evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns to enhance automation capabilities and recommend innovative solutions.
7. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture diagrams, automation processes, and technical guidelines.
8. Manage the full software development lifecycle for automation and systems engineering projects, from requirements analysis to maintenance.
9. Provide support and troubleshooting for automated systems, collaborating with operations teams to resolve issues.
10. Ensure the completeness, consistency, and integrity of business data, including master and transactional data.
11. Maintain business continuity through regular and proper backups of system and user data.
12. Identify and champion opportunities for business process automation to improve efficiency.
13. Ensure compliance with security, reliability, and sound architectural best practices in all solutions.
14. Assist other departments and lead projects, providing reports as required by the IT Development Manager.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Desirable certifications in software development, systems/solutions architecture, or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
3. Added advantage for networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA.
4. Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems/software engineering, application development, or a similar technical role.
5. Strong foundation in system design, software architecture, and development best practices (e.g., design patterns, microservices, API-first design, scalable architectures).
6. Solid understanding of networking technologies including BGP, OSPF, DNS, and DHCP.
7. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash for automation.
8. Working knowledge of YANG, YAML, and JSON.
9. Familiarity with using REST APIs.
10. Working knowledge of Git.
11. Excellent understanding of technology concepts such as SDLC, systems engineering, IT performance management, IT operations, operational monitoring, security monitoring, and KPIs.
12. Knowledge of various IT infrastructure technologies, including applications, servers, networks, and storage.
