Job Description

The jobholder is responsible for patient care and managing clinical teams as per the organizational structure.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide high-quality, patient-centre medical care to patients attending the university medical centre.
  2. Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
  3. Review and manage complex clinical cases and provide specialist guidance where required.
  4. Ensure continuity of care through appropriate referrals, follow-up, and coordination with other healthcare providers.
  5. Promote patient safety and adherence to evidence-based clinical practice
  6. Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
  7. Monitor the quality of clinical services and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  8. Lead clinical audits and review patient outcomes to improve service delivery.
  9. Lead and supervise the clinical team, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of healthcare services.
  10. Allocate clinical duties and coordinate daily operations within the medical centre.
  11. Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  12. Provide clinical guidance and support to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  13. Feedback to client, approve clinical procedures, recommend drugs, make and implement standard operating procedures for clinical processes
  14. Foster teamwork, professionalism, and a culture of continuous improvement
  15. Promote adherence to ethical and professional standards
  16. Investigate and manage clinical incidents and patient complaints.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in medicine from a recognized institution
  2. Registered medical practitioner with the Kenya Medical Practitioners Board eligible for consultant status
  3. Have an up-do-date personal indemnity cover and professional license.
  4. Have an up-to-date BLS and ACLS Certification
  5. At least 6 years of Hospital experience.
  6. At least 3 years of managerial experience.
  7. Able to respond to demanding and complicated patient situations
  8. Effective communication with other doctors as well as patients
  9. Maintain concise, timely, and accurate confidential records of patients
  10. Able to prioritize patients according to their clinical needs
  11. Good time management skills to balance clinical and other duties
  12. Able to work under pressure
  13. Ability to solve difficult problems
  14. Should be able to challenge decisions
  15. Strong decision making and practical skills
