Job Description
The Direct Sales Representative at SBM Bank Kenya is tasked with driving business growth and development by actively identifying and engaging potential customers for consumer banking products. This involves increasing sales, contributing to the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies, and ensuring exceptional customer service to foster long-term, profitable customer relationships. The role requires systematic prospecting, visiting, and onboarding new retail customers within signed-up scheme companies, providing direct sales support through quality lead generation and follow-up, and participating in product campaigns to raise customer awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify retail opportunities and prospects through systematic prospecting, visiting, and onboarding new potential retail customers within signed-up scheme companies.
- Achieve exceptional sales performance by identifying and meeting customer needs through selling and cross-selling assigned Consumer Banking products and services.
- Provide direct sales support, including quality lead generation and effective follow-up, to convert leads into sales.
- Participate in specific consumer banking product campaigns to generate customer awareness.
- Meet and exceed weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets for specific consumer banking sales campaigns.
- Ensure governance and compliance in processing customer documentation for account opening, submitting to the line manager for review before forwarding to the Account Management Unit.
- Follow up with customers to ensure a seamless account opening process and efficient delivery of new account information.
- Maintain stable relationships with company key contacts by providing excellent service and high visibility through regular courtesy calls and visits.
- Keep an updated record of the scheme portfolio at all times to mitigate losses.
- Liaise with business development teams to identify opportunities within their portfolios and deepen relationships with existing bank customers.
- Plan for and attend service open days and activations within selected scheme companies to handle queries.
- Minimize customer attrition by offering solutions and proactively responding to queries and complaints.
- Achieve the required minimum client visits and customer engagement forums annually.
- Handle customer complaints and resolutions within the expected turnaround time, following the approved bank escalation matrix when necessary.
Requirements
- Excellent understanding and interpretation of financial information.
- Working knowledge of the Bank’s products and services.
- Good understanding of banking industry trends, regulations, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Sales experience, preferably in the banking or financial industry.
- Minimum of a Certificate with at least 3 years of sales experience in banking, OR a Diploma/Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of sales experience in banking.
