Job Description

The Management Accountant for Grants at KCA University is responsible for overseeing all aspects of grants accounting, ensuring strict adherence to donor regulations, and meticulously tracking the financial and operational progress of designated university programs. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining financial integrity and accountability for grant-funded initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain detailed financial records and ledgers for all grants.
  2. Monitor expenditures to ensure they align with donor-approved budgets.
  3. Prepare comprehensive financial reports and supporting schedules for donors.
  4. Ensure full compliance with all donor requirements and restrictions.
  5. Provide support during grant audits and donor reviews.
  6. Track both restricted and unrestricted funds accurately.
  7. Record and monitor all income and expenditure for the university's Foundation.
  8. Track donations, sponsorships, and fundraising income.
  9. Prepare financial accountability reports for Foundation activities.
  10. Support reporting related to donor stewardship.
  11. Track project expenditures and the utilization of funding.
  12. Reconcile project accounts and funding balances.
  13. Monitor budget absorption and utilization rates for projects.
  14. Support project audits and inspections by donors.
  15. Ensure adherence to donor agreements and funding conditions.
  16. Maintain thorough documentation for audit and accountability purposes.
  17. Coordinate responses to audit queries effectively.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited university.
  2. CPA(K) or ACCA qualification.
  3. Minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in grants, project accounting, or fund management.
  4. Experience with donor-funded projects is an advantage.
  5. Strong understanding of fund accounting principles.
  6. High level of accuracy in financial tracking and reporting.
  7. Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  8. Knowledge of donor compliance requirements.
  9. Ability to manage multiple funding streams simultaneously.
  10. Strong documentation and audit readiness skills.
