Automotive Engineering Trainer

Mabati Technical Training Institute is a technical training institute that provides competency-based automotive engineering training.

The Automotive Engineering Trainer is responsible for delivering competency-based automotive engineering training in accordance with NITA,KNEC and TVET Authority (TVETA) requirements. The role focuses on equipping trainees with practical technical skills, safety awareness, and professional competence required for certification, employment, or self-employment in the automotive industry.

1. Deliver automotive engineering theory and practical lessons as per NITA, KNEC and TVETA-approved curricula.
2. Prepare lesson plans, training schedules, practical demonstrations, and workshop exercises.
3. Train students in automotive systems including engines, electrical systems, transmission, braking, suspension, and vehicle diagnostics.
4. Register students for NITA trade tests, KNEC Examinations and ensure compliance with assessment timelines.
5. Conduct continuous assessments, practical evaluations, and mock trade tests.
6. Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of workshop tools and equipment.
7. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
8. Mentor students on work ethics, safety standards, and workplace readiness.
9. Coordinate industrial attachments, exposure visits, and industry linkages.
10. Participate in curriculum review, staff meetings, and professional development activities.
11. Support internal and external audits, inspections, and accreditation exercises.
12. Perform any other duties related to training and student development as assigned.

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Automotive option), or a related field.
2. Must be NITA certified and eligible to train NITA courses.
3. Must be TVET Authority (TVETA) accredited or registrable as a trainer.
4. Minimum 1–3 years relevant industry or teaching experience.
5. Experience in vocational or technical training is an added advantage.
6. Master Craftsperson Certification (Added Advantage).
7. Automotive diagnostics or manufacturer-based certifications (Added Advantage).
8. Strong technical knowledge of automotive systems.
9. Ability to deliver hands-on, competency-based training.
10. Good workshop management and safety enforcement skills.
11. Strong communication, mentoring, and student management skills.
12. Ability to assess and evaluate student competence effectively.
13. Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
14. English – required.
15. Kiswahili – added advantage.
16. Basic computer literacy for reporting and training documentation.
17. High integrity and professionalism.

20. Ability to motivate and inspire trainees.
