Job Description

Reporting to the Innovation Manager, the role holder will be responsible for developing assigned channel(s), managing property insurance initiatives, and growing regional presence & diversifying product portfolio to provide sales and operations related support growth of climate insurance with an aim of growing the revenue and number of customers within the emerging consumer segment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with product development teams to design insurance products that cater to the needs of diverse populations, including underrepresented communities, individuals with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.
  2. Assist in developing proposals to donors and development finance institutions for grant funding.
  3. Assist in developing marketing and outreach initiatives to raise awareness about our inclusive insurance products and services among target communities.
  4. Lead the establishment and operationalization of Britam Clinics, including project coordination, regulatory compliance, and readiness for launch.
  5. Oversee day-to-day clinic operations, performance management, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure efficient service delivery.
  6. Develop and manage strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, corporates, development partners, investors, and government agencies to support clinic growth and sustainability.
  7. Drive the scale-up of the clinic network through business development, stakeholder engagement, project management, and implementation of expansion strategies.
  8. Ensure retention of clients, intermediaries, and partners as per segment targets
  9. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
  10. Identify and pursue grant funding opportunities from bilateral and multilateral donors, foundations, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), impact investors, and corporate foundations.
  11. Develop compelling concept notes, grant proposals, pitch decks, and funding applications aligned with Britam Microinsurance’s strategic priorities.
  12. Build and maintain a robust grant pipeline to support innovation, inclusive insurance, healthcare, and regional expansion initiatives.
  13. Coordinate fundraising efforts across internal business units to maximize funding opportunities.
  14. Build and manage strategic relationships with donors, development agencies, philanthropic organizations, and ecosystem partners.
  15. Serve as the primary focal point for donor engagement throughout the funding lifecycle.
  16. Coordinate donor meetings, presentations, due diligence requests, and reporting requirements.
  17. Represent Britam Microinsurance in donor forums, ecosystem engagements, and partnership discussions.
  18. Coordinate implementation of awarded grants to ensure compliance with donor agreements and reporting obligations.
  19. Track grant budgets, deliverables, milestones, and timelines.
  20. Prepare technical and financial progress reports in collaboration with project teams.
  21. Ensure proper documentation and compliance with donor regulations and internal governance requirements.
  22. Support the identification and development of partnerships that strengthen Britam Microinsurance’s innovation and inclusive insurance agenda.
  23. Coordinate partnership agreements, work plans, and joint initiatives.
  24. Identify opportunities for co-funding and blended finance models with strategic partners.
  25. Support the development of innovative programmes that are attractive to donors and aligned with market needs.
  26. Contribute to programme design by integrating donor priorities with Britam’s strategic objectives.
  27. Coordinate cross-functional teams during proposal development and project implementation.
  28. Monitor fundraising performance against annual targets.
  29. Maintain a grants management dashboard and funding pipeline.
  30. Generate regular reports on proposal success rates, donor engagement, funding secured, and project impact.
  31. Capture lessons learned and best practices to strengthen future fundraising efforts.
  32. Work closely with Finance, Legal, Product Development, Operations, Marketing, and Regional teams during proposal development and implementation.
  33. Ensure alignment between donor-funded initiatives and business priorities.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, International Development, Public Policy, Insurance, or a related field.
  2. Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  3. Certification in Project Management or Proposal Development is desirable.
  4. Previous experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on inclusive insurance, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or related fields.
  5. Strong understanding of the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated commitment to promoting these values within the workplace and the broader community.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
  7. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
