Refrigeration Technician

Kinangop Dairy Limited (KDL) is a manufacturing company founded in 1999, located in Nyandarua, Kenya.

The Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency and continuous availability of refrigeration, air conditioning and utility systems essential for dairy processing operations.

1. Install, inspect, maintain and repair refrigeration, air conditioning and cooling systems.
2. Carry out preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
3. Monitor equipment performance and operating parameters to ensure optimum efficiency.
4. Diagnose equipment faults and perform timely repairs to minimise production downtime.
5. Conduct routine inspections and equipment condition monitoring while identifying maintenance requirements.
6. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
7. Service chillers, cold rooms, ice banks, water cooling systems and associated plant utilities.
8. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders and equipment service reports.
9. Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) requirements.
10. Support maintenance shutdowns, emergency breakdowns and scheduled maintenance activities.
11. Supervise contractors to ensure quality maintenance work.
12. Assist in planning equipment installations, upgrades and modifications.
13. Participate in on-call maintenance support.

1. Trade Test in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning with an Ordinary Diploma and at least five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing; OR Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least one (1) year relevant experience.
2. Experience in refrigeration, HVAC systems and industrial utilities.
3. Knowledge of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
4. Ability to read engineering drawings.
5. Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
6. Computer proficiency (MS Excel and MS Word).
7. Experience in dairy or food processing is an added advantage.
8. Knowledge of vibration analysis, laser alignment and balancing is an added advantage.
9. Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
10. Ability to work independently and under pressure.
