Job Description
This role involves overseeing the daily human resource functions at Pearl Hospital, ensuring smooth operations and contributing to a positive workplace culture. The Human Resource Officer will report to the Chief Operating Officer and be responsible for managing various HR processes from recruitment to employee relations, policy implementation, and compliance with employment laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of recruitment, onboarding, contract administration, staff records, and separation processes.
- Monitor staff attendance, leave, probation periods, contract renewals, staffing levels, and payroll inputs.
- Coordinate performance appraisal cycles and ensure follow-up on agreed actions for staff and departments.
- Provide support for disciplinary processes, grievance resolution, and general employee relations.
- Develop, update, and implement HR policies, procedures, and standard documentation.
- Coordinate staff orientation, training programs, recognition initiatives, engagement activities, and succession planning.
- Maintain comprehensive HR reports and provide management with accurate data on staffing, turnover, absenteeism, overtime, and other workforce metrics.
- Ensure full compliance with Kenyan employment laws, professional requirements, and hospital policies.
- Offer advice to departmental leaders on routine HR and people-management issues.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a closely related field.
- Possess at least three years of relevant generalist HR experience.
- Maintain current membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
- Demonstrate sound working knowledge of Kenyan employment and labor laws.
- Have practical experience in recruitment, performance management, employee relations, disciplinary processes, and HR administration.
- Exhibit strong documentation, Excel proficiency, reporting, and organizational skills.
- Possess high integrity, discretion, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience within a hospital or healthcare organization is considered an advantage.
- A CHRP-K qualification is an added advantage.
