Job Description
The Cabin Mechanic is responsible for conducting all assigned cabin aesthetics maintenance tasks, including inspections, repairs, and component replacements for Kenya Airways and third-party aircraft. This role focuses on maintaining high standards to ensure schedule integrity and optimize operational costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Replace cabin laminates for both Kenya Airways and third-party aircraft.
- Prepare and install carpets for Kenya Airways and third-party aircraft.
- Fabricate and repair seat components for Kenya Airways and third-party aircraft.
- Prepare and install aircraft cabin kick strips, seat track covers, and thresholds.
- Tow aircraft between the base, ramp, and designated engine run taxiways.
- Conduct cabin furnishing inspections during scheduled checks.
- Perform inspections and replacements of aircraft emergency equipment.
- Assist with aircraft weighing tasks during ad-hoc and heavy checks.
- Carry out routine cabin servicing maintenance tasks.
- Perform fumigation for aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance.
- Operate and maintain MRO section motorized equipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Adhere to all published Health and Safety requirements outlined in company manuals and other publications.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably requested by the Cabin Workshop supervisor.
Requirements
- Possess a Diploma in any engineering field, a National Trade Test Certificate, or a Certificate in upholstery or equivalent from a recognized institution (an added advantage).
- Hold a valid driving license, with a Heavy Vehicle License preferred, or have training in aircraft equipment operations.
- Be computer literate.
- Have at least 2 years of experience in an aircraft upholstery work environment or interior fabrics.
- Be capable of operating equipment used at an MRO facility.
- Demonstrate strong technical ability and mechanical skills.
- Exhibit analytical thinking skills.
