Job Description

The Cabin Mechanic is responsible for conducting all assigned cabin aesthetics maintenance tasks, including inspections, repairs, and component replacements for Kenya Airways and third-party aircraft. This role focuses on maintaining high standards to ensure schedule integrity and optimize operational costs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Replace cabin laminates for both Kenya Airways and third-party aircraft.
  2. Prepare and install carpets for Kenya Airways and third-party aircraft.
  3. Fabricate and repair seat components for Kenya Airways and third-party aircraft.
  4. Prepare and install aircraft cabin kick strips, seat track covers, and thresholds.
  5. Tow aircraft between the base, ramp, and designated engine run taxiways.
  6. Conduct cabin furnishing inspections during scheduled checks.
  7. Perform inspections and replacements of aircraft emergency equipment.
  8. Assist with aircraft weighing tasks during ad-hoc and heavy checks.
  9. Carry out routine cabin servicing maintenance tasks.
  10. Perform fumigation for aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance.
  11. Operate and maintain MRO section motorized equipment in accordance with company procedures.
  12. Adhere to all published Health and Safety requirements outlined in company manuals and other publications.
  13. Undertake other duties as reasonably requested by the Cabin Workshop supervisor.

Requirements

  1. Possess a Diploma in any engineering field, a National Trade Test Certificate, or a Certificate in upholstery or equivalent from a recognized institution (an added advantage).
  2. Hold a valid driving license, with a Heavy Vehicle License preferred, or have training in aircraft equipment operations.
  3. Be computer literate.
  4. Have at least 2 years of experience in an aircraft upholstery work environment or interior fabrics.
  5. Be capable of operating equipment used at an MRO facility.
  6. Demonstrate strong technical ability and mechanical skills.
  7. Exhibit analytical thinking skills.
