Communications Officer

SOS Children’s Villages Kenya is a leading child-focused organization committed to supporting vulnerable children, families, and communities. The organization works through advocacy, fundraising, child protection, and development programs to create lasting positive impact.

The Communications Officer will implement the organization’s communications and branding strategy to enhance visibility, advocacy, fundraising, and programme impact. The role focuses on storytelling, digital engagement, media relations, and donor visibility. The successful candidate will ensure consistent and impactful communication across all organizational platforms.

1. Develop communication materials including reports, stories, blogs, and multimedia content
2. Produce impact stories and case studies
3. Manage social media platforms and website content
4. Drive digital engagement, growth, and brand visibility
5. Build and maintain relationships with media houses
6. Coordinate press releases, interviews, and media coverage
7. Support donor-funded project communications and visibility requirements
8. Strengthen brand consistency and reputation management
9. Coordinate communication for events, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives
10. Develop stakeholder engagement materials and messaging

1. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
2. Minimum 5 years' experience in communications or media
3. Strong writing, storytelling, and digital communication skills
4. Experience working in NGOs or the development sector is an added advantage
5. Proficiency in design and multimedia tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite
6. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
7. Ability to manage multiple communication channels and projects simultaneously
