Job Description

A leading international development organization operating across multiple African countries is seeking an experienced and strategic finance professional to join its regional operations team in Nairobi.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead grant budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across donor-funded programmes
  2. Manage donor financial reporting requirements and ensure timely submission of accurate reports
  3. Monitor programme expenditure, burn rates, and budget utilisation trends
  4. Ensure compliance with donor regulations, internal controls, and financial policies
  5. Support grant audits, financial reviews, and compliance assessments
  6. Partner with programme and proposal development teams during donor budget preparation
  7. Track restricted funding allocations and grant utilisation across multiple portfolios
  8. Support financial oversight of multi-country programme operations
  9. Strengthen grants finance systems, reporting tools, and internal financial controls
  10. Support financial risk management and donor accountability initiatives

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or related field
  2. CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional certification highly preferred
  3. Strong experience in donor-funded, NGO, international development, or multi-country programme environments
  4. Demonstrated experience in grants management, donor compliance, budgeting, and financial reporting
  5. Strong analytical capability with advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
  6. Experience supporting audits and compliance reviews within donor-funded programmes
  7. Ability to manage multiple grants and reporting timelines simultaneously
  8. Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills
  9. Experience working with international donors, foundations, or bilateral funding partners is an added advantage
