Job Description

The Aircraft Workshops Technical Assistant is responsible for supporting technicians in performing their duties, including cleaning components, parts, and equipment according to instructions. The role requires concentration and attention to detail, adherence to strict aviation safety regulations, and working under demanding time schedules to minimize flight disruption costs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Clean components, parts, and equipment as instructed by supervisory staff.
  2. Assist technicians in performing duties in accordance with maintenance manuals.
  3. Ensure compliance with airworthiness requirements when handling or transporting aircraft components and parts within the shop.
  4. Handle spares, tools, and equipment carefully to prevent injury or damage to company property.
  5. Use tools correctly to maintain their good operating condition.
  6. Take care when drawing and returning tools to ensure their availability for others.
  7. Maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure a hazard-free, safe, and pleasant work environment.
  8. Clean workbenches, tools, and equipment upon completion of work as per supervisory instructions.
  9. Assist Technical Materials staff with loading, unloading, and receiving aircraft spares, tools, and equipment.
  10. Maintain the service and appearance of vehicles and equipment to meet set standards.
  11. Adhere to published Health and Safety requirements.
  12. Undertake other duties as reasonably requested by the Technician or Engineer.

Requirements

  1. Achieved a C Plain in KCSE, with a C in English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  2. Possess a National Trade Test Certificate or equivalent from a recognized institution (an added advantage).
  3. Hold a valid driving license, with a heavy vehicle license preferred.
  4. Computer literate.
  5. Previous airline or motor vehicle maintenance experience is an added advantage.
  6. Strong analytical thinking skills.
  7. Good communication skills.
