Job Description

As a Truck Driver for TakaTaka Solutions, you will be responsible for the efficient and responsible collection of waste from designated commercial and residential clients. This role involves supervising loaders to ensure proper conduct and complete waste collection, accurately filling out delivery forms, and performing basic mechanical checks. You will also be expected to operate tipper and skip loader trucks, maintain fuel efficiency, conduct pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, and ensure the truck adheres to all NTSA regulations and company policies, including proper load securing. Professional interaction with clients and accurate record-keeping of collections and incidents are also key aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Efficiently collect waste from assigned commercial and residential clients.
  2. Supervise loaders to ensure proper conduct and complete waste collection.
  3. Complete delivery forms and submit documentation for timely processing.
  4. Perform basic mechanical duties on the truck.
  5. Operate tipper and skip loader trucks effectively.
  6. Maintain the truck's fuel efficiency above a specified level.
  7. Conduct thorough pre and post-trip inspections, including tires and fluid levels, and submit checklists.
  8. Ensure trucks are not overloaded and tarpaulin covers are securely fastened.
  9. Ensure the truck complies with all NTSA regulations at all times.
  10. Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  11. Interact professionally with clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
  12. Maintain accurate records of collections, deliveries, and incidents, communicating clearly with the logistics team.
  13. Advise the logistics team on potential route optimizations.
  14. Report any theft suspicions or discrepancies directly to the Logistics Team or Manager.

Requirements

  1. Possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  2. Minimum KCPE education level.
  3. Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or related environment.
  4. Strong knowledge of local routes, areas, NTSA, and highway rules.
  5. Ability to operate various trucks and related equipment.
  6. Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
  7. Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  8. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Capable of lifting heavy objects and performing physically demanding tasks.
  10. Willingness to work in diverse weather conditions.
  11. Flexibility to work various hours, including early mornings and weekends.
