Internship Description

Under the general guidance of the IT Officer, the IT Intern is responsible for providing timely and high-quality L1 technical support to Kenya & Madagascar staff members. The role involves serving as a point of contact for IT support calls, assisting with the roll-out of Local IT projects, and providing day-to-day end user support on general computer applications and IT systems.

What You Will Do

  1. Serve as a point of contact for IT support calls and ensure they are logged into JIRA for Kenya & Madagascar staff.
  2. Assist the Kenya & Madagascar IT Officer with the roll-out of Local IT projects.
  3. Provide day-to-day end user support on general computer applications and IT systems in the Country and Field Offices.
  4. Provide training materials and procedures, and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and software.
  5. Provide end user support and resolution of technical issues via email, phone, and other means of communication.
  6. Provide preventive and corrective maintenance of desktop, laptops computer, scanners, projectors, and network equipment.
  7. Cover for Kenya & Madagascar IT Officer when he/she is on leave or engaged with other assignments.
  8. Maintain and log IT issues using the in-house IT incident reporting system of daily support requests, the issues raised, and remedial action taken.
  9. Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
  10. Ensure that the IT equipment is functioning properly and escalate critical failures to the Kenya & Madagascar IT Officer.
  11. Install and configure new machines for users.
  12. Serve as the direct contact for mobile data devices including support & configuration.
  13. Support backing up data from all computers routinely and ensure that backed up data is always secure.
  14. Analyse, design and develop web or mobile applications systems as per user requirements and organization standards.
  15. Consult with systems users to establish requirements for modifications to existing systems or deployment of new systems.
  16. Provide support to the deployed IT innovation and implement immediate resolution to software problems.
  17. Work together with broader Kenya & Madagascar IT teams to build T4D initiatives.

Requirements

  1. Degree in an area of Information Technology, Computer science (IT) or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office 365 and Windows client & server environments.
  3. Understanding of SharePoint and Microsoft solution systems.
  4. Programming experience in Python & JAVA is an advantage.
  5. Experience with CoreVeiw, Entra ID, Active directory is an advantage but not a requirement.
  6. Demonstrate familiarity with Power Automate & PowerApps.
  7. Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English with strong interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
  9. Good communication skills, ability to work with minimum supervision.
