Job Description
The Manager, Management Reporting is responsible for providing comprehensive financial analysis and reporting to SBM Bank (Kenya) Limited. This includes preparing management accounts in line with IFRS and prudential guidelines, analyzing performance against budgets and forecasts, and monitoring income and expense lines daily. The role also involves developing financial reports and presentations, reviewing profitability trends, and assisting with Board, ALCO, and EXCO packs. Additionally, the manager will support budgeting and forecasting processes, ensure data integrity, and contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements. A significant part of the role involves supporting regulatory reporting for CBK and KDIC, including data collation, validation, and reconciliation, as well as assisting with quarterly financial publications. The manager will also coordinate external audit activities, provide requested information, and resolve audit queries, while responding to ad hoc reporting requests with accuracy and control.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare management accounts in accordance with IFRS and prudential guidelines.
- Analyze actual performance against budget, forecasts, and prior periods, highlighting key variances and business drivers.
- Monitor income and expense reporting lines daily to ensure correct capture and rectification of mis-posts.
- Provide comprehensive, in-depth, and timely analytical support through developing financial reports and presentations.
- Review income, expenditure, balance sheet, and profitability trends, providing insightful commentary.
- Assist in preparing Board, ALCO, EXCO packs, and ad hoc presentations/reports.
- Prepare key financial ratios (cost of funds, yield on assets, cost of income) and other financial ratios (gross loans to customer deposits, liquidity, non-funded to total income), advising on optimal mixes.
- Prepare branch profitability reports.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and periodic reforecasting processes.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of management reporting information.
- Assist in preparing annual financial statements.
- Support the preparation and submission of Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) reports.
- Support the preparation and submission of Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) reports.
- Support the collation, validation, and reconciliation of information for CBK reporting.
- Review relevant GL balances and GL mappings for consistency with management reporting.
- Assist in preparing quarterly financial publications.
- Coordinate external audit activities, including providing information and following up on queries.
- Conduct specific financial reviews and analysis as required.
- Respond to ad hoc reporting requests while maintaining accuracy, quality, and appropriate controls.
Requirements
- Good knowledge and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles, methods, techniques, and standards relevant to the company's business environment.
- Good knowledge of CBK prudential guidelines.
- Proficiency in personal computers and applications like MS Office, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and financial information systems.
- Ability to work in a highly demanding environment with time pressures and manage multiple tasks.
- Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in Finance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics from a recognized University.
- Professional qualification in CPA or ACCA.
