Data Analyst

Kenya Airways PLC is the flag carrier airline of Kenya, based in Nairobi. Founded in 1950, it provides passenger and cargo services across Africa and internationally.

This role involves serving as an analytics specialist, focusing on the management of data from diverse sources and delivering data-driven insights to relevant departments. The Data Analyst will analyze business data to provide management, heads, and stakeholders with information that supports both departmental and overall business objectives. Key responsibilities include identifying, interpreting, and analyzing trends and patterns in complex datasets to help the business develop suitable courses of action. Additionally, the role entails auditing system data to ensure compliance, accuracy, and effective duplication management, and collaborating with business analysts to identify opportunities for process automation and functions that streamline current and future data management and reporting.

1. Analyze business data to provide management, heads, and stakeholders with information supporting departmental and overall business objectives.
2. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns in complex data sets, drawing insights to aid business decision-making.
3. Audit system data to guarantee compliance, accuracy, and effective duplication management.
4. Collaborate with business analysts to identify process automation opportunities and functions that streamline data management and reporting.
5. Advocate for a continually improving way of working within the team to drive efficient and impactful engagement and accurate service delivery.
6. Ensure 100% adherence to policies, procedures, and statutory guidelines.
7. Participate in project execution to ensure project scope is understood, completed on time, and meets service delivery specifications.
8. Close audit issues within the quarter of identification or within agreed timeframes.
9. Maintain strong relationships and communications with stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and address concerns.
10. Own up-to-date and actioned competency assessments and development plans.

1. Bachelor’s degree in business management, computer science, information management, or a related field.
2. At least 3 years of relevant, data-related business experience in a busy commercial environment.
3. Proven and successful understanding of how to interpret a business’ needs and draw these needs from analysis of raw information and data.
4. Demonstrated skill in SQL.
5. Proven skills and experience working with at least one other major database platform (e.g., DB2, Oracle, Postgres).
6. Proficiency with Excel and statistical methods (Python is an added plus).
7. Experience with Power BI is strongly preferred.
8. Ability to think creatively, highly driven, and self-motivated.
9. Strategic perspective with the ability to analyze complex issues, develop appropriate action plans, and deliver results.
10. Ability to synthesize and analyze diverse data and information, then develop and recommend strategies.
11. Any IT management certification, such as ITIL, will be an added advantage.
