Job Description

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision- making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa. The research under the Integrated Population and Sentinel Hospital-Based Vaccine Surveillance (INNOVATE) project aims to strengthen vaccine safety surveillance by establishing baseline rates and improving the detection of adverse events following immunization, through integrated population-based and linked hospital surveillance in the Korogocho and Viwandani study sites. APHRC therefore seeks to recruit qualified Quantitative Field Interviewers to support data collection for this study between the months of September and October 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Commit to attend all days of training and data collection.
  2. Obtain and document informed consent from the study participants before the interviews.
  3. Listing of all existing structures and rentable rooms in the study sites.
  4. Conduct and record all interviews held with respondents using tablets.
  5. Participate in daily debrief meetings.
  6. Be a custodian of the APHRC data collection equipment during field work.
  7. Observe safeguarding procedures throughout the data engagement.
  8. Any other related activity assigned by the supervisor during the contract period.

Requirements

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE); with a minimum grade of C Plain.
  2. Experience in electronic data capture methods, such as survey CTO and devices like tablets.
  3. Attention to detail to ensure the correctness of all data entered.
  4. Previous experience working in Korogocho and Viwandani is an added advantage.
  5. Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili.
  6. Be available to work full-time on the project for the duration.
  7. Only residents of Nairobi County are eligible to apply.
