Job Description
The Agricultural Trainee will undergo extensive learning across all stages of black tea production, from cultivation in the field to processing in the factory. A key focus will be on ensuring the consistent production of high-quality teas that meet both company standards and international requirements. The role also involves planning and managing labor-related activities, including staff attendance and supervision, providing feedback to management. Additionally, the trainee will oversee factory and field machinery, ensuring their correct and efficient operation, proper maintenance, and prompt reporting of any necessary repairs. Adherence to safe work practices and compliance with all relevant safety procedures and legislation are essential. The trainee will also be responsible for efficient supervision of labor and subordinate staff, ensuring compliance with company policies, and maintaining positive labor relations through regular communication. Furthermore, the role includes supervising Village Improvement Schemes and Village Environmental Committee meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn all aspects of black tea manufacturing, from field cultivation to factory processing.
- Ensure the production of high-quality teas that meet relevant international standards.
- Ensure the production of high-quality green leaf according to company standards.
- Plan labor-related activities and provide feedback to the Divisional or Factory Manager.
- Manage labor staff attendance.
- Monitor and supervise labor-related activities.
- Supervise factory and field machinery, ensuring correct use, efficient operation, maintenance, and prompt reporting of repairs.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices, procedures, and relevant safety legislation.
- Efficiently supervise labor and subordinate staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain sound labor relations through regular communication at all levels.
- Supervise Village Improvement Schemes and Village Environmental Committee (VEC) meeting schedules.
Requirements
- Achieved a mean grade of B+ in KCSE.
- Hold a Second-Class Upper Division Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or Food Processing.
- Possess basic experience in field husbandry practices.
- Have basic awareness of personnel management.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills.
- Be a positive and self-motivated individual.
- Possess high integrity.
