Job Description

The Underwriting Senior Credit Analyst is an integral part of the Institutional Credit Management (ICM) organization, focusing on best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring, and administration. This role partners with Corporate Banking and Risk to ensure the safety and soundness of wholesale lending at Citi. Analysts and Associates manage a portfolio of corporate relationships, conducting credit risk analysis, continuous portfolio monitoring, and producing various credit approvals and reviews. Responsibilities also include supporting ad-hoc portfolio and industry reviews, as well as stress testing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate the credit and financial strength of Citi’s most complex large corporate, public sector, and financial institutions clients through fundamental credit analysis, using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
  2. Prepare comprehensive credit analysis write-ups and assign internal credit risk ratings based on independent assessment, judgment, client due diligence, and industry knowledge.
  3. Continuously monitor the assigned portfolio, tracking industry trends, assessing impacts on key relationships, and escalating potential credit issues to Underwriters, Risk, and Banking partners.
  4. Collaborate with relevant regional and industry stakeholders in Banking and Independent Risk to implement credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios.
  5. Perform other duties as required to support business unit and company goals.

Requirements

  1. Demonstrate 8-10 years of credit experience in Banking, Credit Risk Management, or equivalent within financial services.
  2. Possess strong proficiency in both written and verbal English and French.
  3. Exhibit strong analytical skills, including a deep understanding of key financial components like liquidity position and leverage profile, with the ability to identify root causes, trends, and anticipate future issues.
  4. A background in both Corporate and Financial Institutions’ risk analysis is advantageous.
  5. Advanced capabilities in industry research, including understanding risks and key drivers.
  6. Proven analytical skills including the ability to understand and assess company financial statements, cash flow, industry/competitive analysis, and projections, especially for complicated business structures with foreign subsidiaries and/or parent organizations.
  7. Excellent organizational skills, strong prioritization abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to complete assignments within required deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  9. Thorough problem recognition and resolution skills.
  10. Hold a Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
  11. A higher degree in Business (MBA) or any other related subject is an added advantage.
