Biomedical Engineer

The Biomedical Engineer at AGC Tenwek Hospital is responsible for the full lifecycle management of medical equipment. This includes designing, developing, and testing devices to meet safety and performance standards, as well as modifying existing equipment for improved functionality. The role involves installing, calibrating, and maintaining equipment to ensure reliability, providing technical support and training to healthcare staff, and conducting research to resolve equipment-related issues. The engineer will also evaluate new technologies for integration, implement quality assurance procedures, manage equipment inventory, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care. Continuous learning and professional development in biomedical engineering are expected.

1. Design, develop, and test medical equipment and devices to meet safety and performance standards.
2. Modify and customize existing medical equipment to enhance functionality and efficiency.
3. Install, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment for optimal performance and reliability.
4. Provide technical support and training to healthcare personnel on equipment usage and maintenance.
5. Conduct research and collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify and resolve equipment-related problems.
6. Evaluate new technologies and equipment for potential integration into healthcare facilities.
7. Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
8. Manage and document equipment inventory, including maintenance schedules and service records.
9. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, such as physicians, nurses, and technicians, to optimize equipment utilization and patient care.
10. Stay informed about advancements in biomedical engineering and healthcare technology through continuous learning.
11. Perform any other assigned duties.

1. Hold a Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
2. Be a member of AMEK (Association of Medical Engineers).
3. Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a biomedical or related field.
