Regional Relationship Manager – Biashara Banking (North-Eastern Region)

Equity Bank Kenya is a leading financial institution providing banking and financial services across Kenya. It was founded in 1984.

The Regional Relationship Manager for Biashara Banking reports to the Regional RM Business and is responsible for coordinating business operations across the North-Eastern region to ensure the bank meets its strategic objectives. This includes driving customer acquisition, increasing deposits, growing assets, identifying investment and insurance opportunities, maintaining high-quality service, enhancing staff productivity, providing training, and implementing the segment strategy. This position operates at an Assistant Manager level.

1. Monitor and track daily loan originations at branches to prevent malpractices.
2. Review disbursed loans daily and assess decision-making processes.
3. Engage with staff daily on arrears management and query arrears reports.
4. Manage relationships with borrowers in the region.
5. Ensure staff compliance with bank policies and procedures.
6. Conduct refresher training for branch staff members.
7. Train Branch Credit Committees to ensure loan quality aligns with policies.
8. Promote the organization's culture and core values among the sector team.
9. Mentor and coach staff on bank lending processes.
10. Participate in developing and reviewing sector products based on market needs.
11. Seek and manage partnerships aligned with sector objectives.
12. Bring business aggregators into the region in conjunction with bank partnerships.
13. Enforce service delivery within stipulated Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
14. Organize and conduct marketing campaigns for branches and follow up on leads.
15. Participate in formulating and implementing the sector strategy.
16. Hold weekly performance review discussions with Biashara banking officers.
17. Support regional sector staff growth, development, and talent identification.
18. Identify staff gaps and advise on staff deployment to branches.
19. Act as a brand ambassador for Equity Bank in the market.
20. Manage regional micro aggregators and support branches in onboarding ecosystems.
21. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in the region.
22. Provide updates and advice to the Segment Head – Biashara Banking on business progress.
23. Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

1. Hold a business-related university degree.
2. Possess at least 6 years of experience as a Relationship Supervisor in Biashara Banking.
3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
4. Exhibit strong coaching, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
5. Be self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting strict deadlines under pressure with minimal supervision.
6. Possess individual leadership skills, excellent planning, and organizing abilities.
