Job Description
The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu, an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network, is seeking a Human Resources Officer. This position reports to the Senior Manager – Human Resources and is crucial for supporting the efficient delivery of human resource plans, managing data, and overseeing HR operations across designated business units within the hospital's network of health facilities. The hospital is currently undergoing significant growth and holds several quality accreditations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the effective implementation of human resource policies, plans, and procedures.
- Assist in forecasting and planning talent pipeline requirements aligned with business strategy.
- Participate in talent recruitment processes to ensure optimal staffing capabilities.
- Manage specific projects outlined in the annual HR operational plan and contribute to functional and cross-functional initiatives.
- Provide HR advisory services to department heads, managers, and supervisors on talent management, employee development, performance management, employee relations, and change management.
- Assist with labor initiatives, ensuring compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements and hospital regulations.
- Develop and monitor regular statistical information on workforce requirements, staff turnover, leave, and absence.
- Ensure leave plans are established and followed in consultation with department heads.
- Maintain an efficient and effective filing system for HR documents, including staff files and data management.
- Monitor and submit monthly probationary reports to the supervisor one month before probation ends.
- Support payroll administration.
- Track contract expiry dates and update the supervisor one month in advance.
- Keep records of all active staff and process separations for non-renewed/terminated contracts.
- Assist in the induction and orientation of new staff, ensuring they are familiar with HR policies like the human resource manual and code of conduct.
- Ensure staff possess relevant licenses and updated professional documentation to comply with standards and regulatory needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or a related business field from a recognized institution.
- Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) qualifications or a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution.
- Membership of the Institute of Human Resources Management.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience as an HR generalist, preferably in a comparable institution.
