As the Head Gardener at Freds Ranch & Resort, you will be the custodian of our natural beauty, playing a pivotal role in creating and maintaining the stunning landscapes that define our guest experience. This position offers a unique opportunity to blend horticultural expertise with a passion for creating serene and vibrant outdoor spaces within a renowned hospitality setting in Kenya.

You will be responsible for the overall aesthetic appeal, health, and sustainability of all gardens, lawns, and planted areas across the resort. This includes everything from ornamental flowerbeds and indigenous plant collections to vegetable gardens and water features, all designed to enhance the tranquil and luxurious atmosphere that Freds Ranch & Resort is known for.

This is a leadership position that requires a strategic approach to garden management, an eye for detail, and a commitment to environmental stewardship. Your work will directly contribute to the resort's reputation as a destination that offers not only exceptional service but also breathtaking natural surroundings, making every guest's stay memorable.

1. Develop and implement comprehensive garden maintenance schedules and horticultural plans.
2. Lead, train, and supervise a team of gardeners, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
3. Oversee the planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and pest control of all plant life.
4. Design and execute new landscaping projects, including plant selection and hardscaping elements.
5. Manage the irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage and plant health.
6. Maintain accurate records of plant inventory, treatments, and garden development.
7. Ensure the resort's grounds are consistently presented to the highest aesthetic standards.
8. Implement sustainable gardening practices, including composting and water conservation.

1. Diploma or Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Agronomy, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in large-scale garden management, preferably in a resort or hotel setting.
3. Proven leadership skills with experience managing and motivating a team.
4. In-depth knowledge of Kenyan flora, indigenous plants, and sustainable gardening practices.
5. Proficiency in irrigation systems, pest management, and plant nutrition.
6. Strong aesthetic sense and attention to detail in landscape design and maintenance.
7. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
