Laundry Attendant

The successful candidate will join the hospital's laundry team, taking charge of all aspects of linen management. This includes processing soiled linen, operating various laundry machinery safely and efficiently, and ensuring timely distribution of clean linen. A key aspect of the role is adherence to strict hygiene and infection prevention protocols, as well as maintaining accurate records and reporting equipment issues.

1. Sort and categorize soiled linen according to established hospital procedures.
2. Operate washing machines, dryers, ironing machines, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
3. Handle contaminated and infectious linen in strict compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines.
4. Wash, dry, fold, and distribute clean linen within specified timeframes.
5. Monitor laundry equipment for proper function and report any breakdowns or maintenance requirements.
6. Maintain precise records of all linen received and delivered.
7. Adhere to all hospital safety policies and infection prevention protocols.
8. Collaborate with other departments to ensure a consistent and adequate supply of clean linen.

1. Possess a Certificate in Laundry Operations, Housekeeping, Hospitality, or a related field.
2. Have a minimum of two years of experience working in a hospital laundry environment.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of infection prevention and control (IPC) practices.
4. Be capable of operating industrial laundry equipment.
5. Exhibit a good understanding of linen management procedures.
6. Possess the ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
7. Have basic record-keeping skills.
8. Experience in handling highly soiled and infectious linen is preferred.
9. Knowledge of quality improvement and cost-control practices is preferred.
10. Strong time management skills.
11. Excellent attention to detail.
